Flew from Heathrow to JKF. Me and Phil thought our seats were behind eachother but turned out our seats were together - hurrah! nice surprise :) On the plane watched an episode of Doctor Who and the movies Pride & Glory (violent! fell asleep through most of it) and How To Lose Friends & Alienate People - there were two extra scenes that were not in the UK theatrical release - One was an imagination sequence of Sidney getting applause from the office staff after telling Clayton 'won't you have to run that kind of decision through Eleanor first?' and at the 4th July party Sidney bumps into the actress Rachel Petkoff [sp?] but this time she ignores him. Oh and the whole 'Are you gay?' interview was cut out. I wonder if I was watching the US theatrical release? or if there's a version just for showing on airlines?! (I suspect not).
Arrived at JFK and in the space of 2 metres at arrivals exit got hassled numerous times by touts offering taxis/transportation. Thankfully we'd booked ours in advance. Got to hotel, checked in, ate and in the evening went to The View revolving bar @ Marriot on Times Square for the views...

Anyone in or nearby Toronto? Want to be a film extra for the shooting of Scott Pilgrim?
Also Bob Weide's production diary for directing How to Lose Friends & Alienate People is a interesting read. I think the DVD is out this month too :)

*grins* Yay! I liked it :) I have to admit that the trailer wasn't pulling me in (aside from the Pegg factor). Why is this movie marketed as gag, gag, gag movie? Yes there are gags, some work better than others, but there's also some funny dialogue, and the real story is in the critique of celebrity and selling out, Sidney's parents, and Sidney's relationship with Alison. That's the stuff I enjoyed the most in this movie.

Exciting for me this week is thatI got me a blu-ray player from work at less than half price. What they don't tell you is that to get the best quality out of it you need to buy a HDMI cable which isn't included. So halfway through installing the player I went out to the Sony Centre shop in Wood Green to buy said cable. This set me back £50 but I did have a great conversation from the purchase with the salesperson in the shop. As I was paying I spotted Thandie Newton and Dylan Moran on the big TV's in the shop showing Sky Box Office and before I could complete my own thoughts:
Salesperson: That's Run Fatboy Run, it's hilarious. Have you seen it?
Me: Oh yeah, I thought it was. Yeah I have.
Salesperson: It's great isn't it?
Me: Yeah it is. I always remember the scene with the blister.
Both of us: Urrghh! + laughter
Salesperson: Yeah Simon Pegg's in it. He's great.
Me: Yes! He is! He's got a new movie out actually.
Salesperson: Oh, the one I keep seeing advertised on the buses. How to Lose Friends & Alienate People?
Me: Yeah, that's it!
Salesperson: Must watch that. Enjoy your blu-ray.
Me: Me too. Thanks!
*grins* Pegg fans are everywhere. :)
For the record, the blu-ray player works a treat with my HDTV. And, the first blu-ray DVD purchase? Pixar's Animated Shorts :) And note to Working Title: Why isn't Hot Fuzz available on blu-ray? Me want it.

Pegg fans take note, new trailer is now online for How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. Some have commented that it appears to give away a lot?
swankyfunk - care to comment on that? As I know you saw a test screening for it:
It's not out till October so am sure I'll forget much of the above by then. What I see from the trailer, looks fun :D
