^ For you retro gamers out there. Was in Birmingham today, spotted these games consoles joypads hanging on a wire on a gaming stall at the market. :)

^ What I've been playing a lot of today. Hopefully things will get a bit more interesting when I go back to London tomorrow.

So I had a Gameboy in the 90s and loved playing Tetris on that. I think my highest score on traditional marathon was 115 lines or there abouts.

Well now I'm totally addicted to it again thanks to Tetris for the Nintendo DS with its shiny colours and lots of variations of the game. I love the Touch Puzzle versions but not the other Puzzle types. Why am I ok at one but not the other?
On traditional marathon level I've only got up to 78 lines but am determined to reach 100! How in the heck you reach 200 as it says is the aim...
I also have the mobile version on my phone. I really like the play mode on that where you alternate on each brick between you and the CPU and you have to try to be the one to place the brick that creates the line. I miss that on the DS. Otherwise the DS versions have much more variety.
I couldn't sleep last night so as you can probably tell this gem of a game kept me occupied. I'll get RSI if I'm not careful!
Anyone else love this game? or hate it? Seems to be one or the other for most... :P Any other versions to recommend?

Well hark at me I'm committed to my fandoms:
swankyfunk you would be proud. I took your advice and have bought The Boys Vol 1 now its back in stock at Forbidden Planet :) I was laughing after the second page already. So far so good. Will post my thoughts once finished. Don't spoil me! Also, I have to apologise for not having read Meat & Bones that you kindly emailed me yet. My stupid mac can't open the word doc so I have emailed to work so I can print off to read.
Whilst at Forbidden planet I also bought the latest Action Comics which bought the Legion story to an end. Enjoyed it a lot. I particularly love Gary Franks' art - he draws a very Christopher Reeve-ish looking Superman :)
And... to get myself up to speed I have ordered Vol 1 Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life in preparation for Edgar Wright's movie. I was also intrigiued to buy it after reading
nealbailey's review of Vol 2 which made it sound bizarre to say the least. I bought it from Playtrade as it was the cheapest there. I hope i can trust it. Anyone ordered from there? its Play.com but individual sellers like Amazon Marketplace.
Aside from comics, I bought two new Nintendo DS games, Ultimate Mortal Kombat which I am finding difficult to play (then again I'm not an experienced gamer) and Geometry Wars Galaxies which is great retro space invaders type fun game. Anyone else got these? any thoughts?
Since last posting I should mention fandom news:
Miller & Gough are departing from Smallville ! The general consensus seems to be that this good news. Probably true but with Lex gone, why watch after that? I guess the one good thing that I know loads of fans want is this could mean the end of the 'no tights, no flight' rule?
Working Title have announced more projects. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are to write the currently titled The World's End the third in the 'cornetto trilogy' that has been Shaun of the Dead and of course Hot Fuzz :D Yay! Plus, Edgar is directing another movie titled Baby Driver - press release doesn't say if he is writing this as well?

Well I've not posted for a day or two. And no I was not on strike. Just been lazy! I now have my Nintendo DS and have been distracted by gaming. It's been ages since I had a games console and its stupidly exciting to have one again. So far I've tried:
Brain Training
Sonic Rush
Draw To Life - a lot of fun but really p*ssed* because it crashes halfway through the latest level that I've reached. Has anyone else got this game and had issues?
Also, TV wise, why was there no er this thursday? *pouts* I have still to watch Torchwood - don't spoil me! Ashes to Ashes - again, fun episode. All the 90s boyband references was very funny! New Kids on the Block - good name for a boyband. What? Right, East 17 is where they're located... etc. That's my kind of crap taste in music. That and 80s! ;) Also
justtracy I'm with you, I'm not a massive Alex/Gene shipper either - its just too predictable. I don't really care either way if they get together or not.

Anyone on my friends list a gamer? I got myself a Nintendo DS for my birthday. Haven't actually picked it up from my parents house yet but shall be doing so soon. I've not really played many games since the 90s when I was the proud owner of a Sega Megadrive and Sonic the Hedgehog ruled. So any game recommendations for the Nintendo DS? I'm a fan of logic/puzzle, and platform games but open to anything really...
Other stuff... I agree with
zauberer_sirin that the winners of the What's On Stage Awards are ?!?! I'm talking mainly about the fact that John Simm lost out on Best Actor. But at least the play Elling won best comedy :)
Also, bought and watched Michael Clayton on DVD today. One of my favourite films of last year. Wonder if it will pick up any Oscars tomorrow...
