Edward Woodward (1930 – 2009) : Edgar Wright Here
What a lovely tribute from Mr Wright. I was saddened to hear this news today - I will always giggle at his name because of his great comic performance in Hot Fuzz complaining about extremely irritating living statues, and hoodies, loitering about.
It only seems like yesterday that he was guest starring in EastEnders also.... :(

Tonight I have officially finished watching every single episode of Star Trek TOS. So much fun. Looking forward to meet up tomorrow @ bfi for Star Trek: The Motion Picture - then I will have also completed viewing all Star Trek movies (original cast).
And damn you Edgar Wright, if anyone could sell me horror (I'm not really a big fan) it's probably Wright and his enthusiasm for it. Stop planning Prince Charles Cinema screenings on days I cannot make :( (Ok so I made it to Grindhouse, but was gutted to miss Hot Fuzz).
Oh, and the reviews for Inherit the Wind at the Old Vic are mostly positive - I cannot wait :D Hurry up November. I've missed seeing Spacey on stage.

I have a stupid grin on my face for watching the latest Scott Pilgrim video blog. Edgar Wright and Brandon Routh exchange a punch or two, kind of.

Meant to also say, I hope the rumours circulating the web that Signoury Weaver has been cast in Simon and Nick's movie Paul is true.
And OMG Edgar - thanks for sharing this gem of a 1994 TV show that includes clips from director debut Fistful of Fingers - some of the visual gags in this still make me laugh even when I know what is coming. Someone needs to find the Going Live clips! Loved that show :)

The interview in GQ magazine with Pegg is good. It has some nice insights:
and quoting Jessica Hynes...

Plus Empire's 20th Anniversary edition has an awful lot of man talent with some lovely photos I had to share...
( Frost, Pegg, Sheen, Spacey, Wright )
Enjoy! I had nothing better to do today.
'Then 30 years later the guy who made it [Indiana Jones Raiders Of The Lost Ark] is phoning me while I'm back at my mum's - Spielberg's voice is in our living room! It was lovely. I felt good because my mum could hear it.'
and quoting Jessica Hynes...
'Simon's enthusiastic response to my comedic skills was a standout occurrence in my life. Not since my mother saw me in a primary school production of The Emperor's New Clothes had I been so openly and consistently championed by someone. It was the mark of someone with a generous heart who truly wanted those around him to succeed.'

Exclusive Video Interview: Brandon Routh talks SCOTT PLIGRIM and DYLAN DOG
^ *thank you* Frosty @ Collider. You've asked the exact kind of questions I'd be curious to know the answer to and now I know that Brandon 'Superman' Routh:
- prefers Shaun of the Dead to Hot Fuzz.
- is a Spaced junkie.
I am so excited that he's gonna be working with Edgar Wright :D :D :D
Also glad that finally the Dylan Dog project is moving forward - I bought the Italian comic when I was in Rome, can't understand it all though! Does anyone know if there are English translation publications out? Haven't found any on a search. I bet there will be when the movie is released.

Anyone in or nearby Toronto? Want to be a film extra for the shooting of Scott Pilgrim?
Also Bob Weide's production diary for directing How to Lose Friends & Alienate People is a interesting read. I think the DVD is out this month too :)

Moffat was exciting enough but my level of interest just increased :)
:)
SOURCE: NOT INTERESTED IN TINTIN? HOW ABOUT NOW?
We've known for a long time that Dr. Who scribe Steven Moffat was typing away at the script(s) for Tintin by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.
That creative team hasn't seemed interesting enough to add momentum to the movie in fan circles, but what if Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish were added to the script detail? Working with Moffat, they've helped adapt The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, one of author Herge's favorite books, as the first film in the projected Tintin series.

Yes, ok so I stole photo a day idea off
swankyfunk and Edgar Wright but ha! Edgar's latest photo a day is proof that actually he's copying me.
The proof - I was at the same video store taking photos of the very same DVD comments (ok not Hot Fuzz, or Spaced but only because it wasn't out on DVD at the time) - see journal entry from November 2007.
Told ya. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a strange kind of kick out of the coincidence. :)

Chris Evans, Brandon Routh and Brie Larson have joined the cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar Wright's adaptation of the cult-favorite Oni Press graphic novels for Universal, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Pilgrim centers on young slacker Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), who meets the woman of his dreams (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) but finds he can win her heart only by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends, the trade paper reported.
The books, by Bryan Lee O'Malley, feature romance, teen angst and plenty of fantastical action involving a large supporting cast. The fifth installment in the book series will be published in February.
Evans (Push) plays evil boyfriend number two, Lucas Lee, a pro-skateboarder-turned-movie star, while Routh (Superman Returns) plays the third evil boyfriend, Todd Ingram, a rocker with vegan psychic powers.

HitFix is reporting that Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down) has been cast as Wallace Wells in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. .....
Also, THR is reporting that Aubrey Plaza has been cast as Julie Powers, the obnoxious on-off-on-again girlfriend of Stephen Stills, the lead singer and guitarist of Scott’s band, Sex Bob-omb. Aubrey is a comedian and improviser from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City.
