Erm, yeah so I watched this forthe plot Captain Fine - Chris Pine. It was ok. The performances from the cast are great though and holds the film up well but the plot itself...mmm didn't do much for me. ( Best bit? Reminded me of Hot Fuzz )

Trailer:
Captain Fine is blind! Ok, if you've missed it, the marketing for this movie in the UK basically consists of the following on a crap photoshopped photo of Chris Pine on the movie poster the text: " Starring Chris Pine from Star Trek!" and the tagline is... Blindly going where no man has gone before (if you really need to see the proof boldly go here.) Surely the movie isn't as bad as the marketing? (Poor Chris Pine)
Myself and
missy_manic blindly went to go and see it. And thankfully the movie, though bad, wasn't as terrible as I feared The relationship Pine's character does find with the right girl, is believable and I liked them enough to root for them to stay together. There is no great insight (no pun intended) to disability or people's attitude towards it in this movie. If anything I found some of the scenarios patronising towards 'normal' people's abilities to cope with interacting with someone who is disabled ("Blind? I thought you were gay!" *MAJOR CRINGE FACTOR DIALOGUE*). And I feel like I can say that with some confidence as a disabled person myself who is surrounded by friends and family who do not share my disability. It does effect your confidence in social situations though no doubt about it but its not that easy for 'normal' people either!
