This will be my last post for at least 5 days as in 11 hours time I will be on a flight to NYC *squee* I don't know if I'll get any access to a computer whilst am out there but it won't be my priority to be updating till I return. Gonna make the most of the time I'm there to sight see. [info]swankyfunk looking forward to meeting up :D See you soon.

March 17th 2009 )

^ The London Studios. Went to a filming of the Justin Lee Collins Show soon to be on ITV2. No idea who the guests would be beforehand but turns out we got lucky because we had two former Doctor Who assistants - Billie Piper and Catherine Tate :D yay! I've actually lost count of how many recordings I've been to that have involved Tate and/or Doctor Who in some form. Show was fun and amusing. Collins is a great host :)

Right back to finishing packing. See you all in 5-6 days time...

For you a thousand times over.

If you get a chance to read this book do so. It normally takes me weeks to finish a book. I finished this in seven days. A great piece of fiction that feels totally real, heartbreaking, and heartwarming.

Favourite quotes:
Children aren't coloring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colors.
For you, a thousand times over.

And no I have not seen the movie. I would like to though.

Am now reading the graphic novel I picked up last week The Boys - Vol 3 - darkly hilarious so far. I like how its picking up some character arcs/stories from Vol 1.

Oh Catherine Tate on The Sunday Night Project last night on TV - fab :) I wonder what her next project[s] will be? I was pleased she said she would happily return to her comic character creations for Comic Relief :) And er last week - a new character on the last season of the show - wasn't expecting that. And if they make Morris depressed - that will be too upsetting. Please don't :(

How come I've not even heard of this movie coming out? It's got Peter Serafinowicz *and* Catherine Tate.

*is curious* Anyone seen it? Any good?

Music of the Spheres

Had a great day with [info]missy_manic today at the Doctor Who Proms. Very well put together with video screens - entertaining and of course great music from the soundtrack. We had the *best* seats right in the centre at the front of the circle :D The music is powerful live - the video link up of a special episode in which the Doctor breaks the fourth wall and talks to the audience in the Royal Albert Hall was cleverly done and a heck of a lot of fun. Glad to see a wide age range coming together to listen to the music - a credit to the appeal of Doctor Who I guess. A reasonably eldery lady whom me met waiting for the toilet told us ' I don't care if its for kids, I loved it. Can't see who will match David Tennant if he leaves." Awwww. Also, Catherine Tate got the biggest applause - awesome :D Funniest thing as she finished her little introduction to one of the pieces of music a kid shouted out 'Donna Rocks!' If anything this event made me see how *huge* Doctor Who's appeal is. I knew it from the merchandise but the packed out Royal Albert Hall was something else. Even got a glimpse of Russell T. Davies being interviewed afterwards outside, along with composer Murray Gold. Afterwards we went to the Doctor Who Exhibition at Earls Court - fun fun fun. Saw the Doctor, Face of Boe, Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, The Master's costume ([info]missy_manic thinks it was Derek Jacobi's not John Simm's one). And loads more that escape me. Fun day, and also boiling hot!

I'll look up to the sky

So yesterday's final episode left me feeling sad.

BIG SPOILERS for Journey's End )

I'm nothing special. Just a temp.

Happy Birthday to my mum! Had a lovely meal at an Italian restaurant in Bledlow Ridge for lunch. I especially loved the sardines starter I ate. Haven't had sardines in years, they taste better than I remember.

Doctor Who - tonight's 'Turn Left' was awesome. Donna Noble haters will be eating their words I hope. Loved how Russell T. linked events across all the series! Sometimes I wonder if he's just showing off ;) Great writer. Can't wait for next week's episode :D

Oh and all the Edward Norton related posting made me forget to mention: Spacey's filming a new movie with Robin Williams yay! It's called Shrink and Kevin's playing, er, a shrink. [info]ohnotheydidnt has on set photos here. Hello stubble :) Loving the suit also.

The Ed Norton related posts will be continuing btw. I went on an impulse DVD buy on Thursday and bought some of his movies (well I had to do something whilst waiting for the tube delays to ease).

Well am pleased to say, compared to this time last week am feeling better. Have stood my ground at work and although that was tough am all the better for it. But enough of real life stuff. On to fandoms....

This week I have caught up and watched...

The final episode of series two of Torchwood - sad to say the least. *But* am highly confused as to how Captain Jack's brother knew how to control all that modern technology (?) did I miss something or am I just picking?

The final episode of Ashes to Ashes - superb, brilliant twist at the end. I think from the third episode in I enjoyed watching this and stopped comparing it to Life on Mars. A lot of that is to the credit of Philip Glenister who somehow despite playing the 'same' character made it feel different. I look forward to its return.

and tonight series 4 of Doctor Who started - yay!!!! I loved the first episode. How cute were the Adipose? I loved Catherine Tate. I'm sticking up for her. I know some fans are cautious but she's gonna add something different to Martha and Rose. I'm not a big Doctor/Rose shipper as I only really became a fan during the last series - yes, late I know, it was [info]missy_manic who got me watching. But Doctor Who Spoilers ahead ). I'm deaf and so I loved physical comedy so I adored the part where Donna and the Doctor met again. Hilarious.

Talking of funny physical/visual comedy, thanks to a fan on Peggster.net I got a hold of a copy of Edgar Wright's A Fistful of Finger's : D Me and [info]missy_manic watched it after Doctor Who tonight and laughed a lot. I'd seen Dead Right made before this one, and some of the cast members are the same! [info]fearcat and [info]redderz - you have to see this movie. It's filmed in Wells and other areas in Somerset. There are lot of scenes that look suspiciously like Cheddar Gorge! The title of this movie refers to one of the funniest (IMO) scenes in the movie and is absolutely a predecessor to the famous "gunfight" in Spaced.

I missed er and half of Love Soup tonight. But as much as I'm a fan of Tamsin Greig, I miss the male view and counterpart that we had in the first series. :( I am currently watching a documentary on BBC4 on TV producer Verity Lambert. I had no idea her career spanned 50 years. She is responsible for a lot of British TV drama including the first ever series of Doctor Who and more recently Love Soup. Sadly she died last year. R.I.P.

Catherine Tate and Ascot

Went to see Catherine Tate filming at the BBC for the third time on Friday. This one was for the Christmas special. Had special guests Kathy Burke and Tamsin Outhwaite [sp?]. Burke was brilliant playing the daughter of rude nan. In between filming sketches they showed us some pre-recorded stuff they'd already shot and there's a massive spoiler - she's killed off one of her characters! That's all I'm saying. Am sure you'll here about it sooner or later.

And yesterday was Sony Fun Day at Ascot. We were allowed a guest and so naturally I took [info]missy_manic. We had a great time. Sony had its own exclusive tent area where we had our own free bar and lunch, followed by afternoon tea. The horse racing was fun to watch. Didn't place any bets however but did go to the padock to look at the horses. Thank god the weather was on our side which meant we didn't freeze to death or get rained on in our dresses. After the last race we got treated to a concert by Lemar. I would've danced more if my feet were not in pain thanks to my uncomfortable shoes which have left me with blisters. :( All in all a great day. Pics below the cut.

Check out 'is horse! )

Hyperdrive and rest of the week

Watched Hyperdrive. It was ok, but I wasn't laughing my head off. It's unfair to compare really because the humour is different, but I like Red Dwarf so much it'll be hard to compete. I will keep watching though to get to know the characters a bit more - couldn't understand why two of the crew members just constantly fought physically - is that the whole joke?

Tomorrow I have half day at work and will be going to see Catherine Tate filming at the BBC \O/ yay! On Saturday I will be going to Ascot for Sony Fun Day - free food and booze \O/ Everyone has to dress smartly so been ironing my dress ready for it, though still got a stubborn crease in it grr! Will have to iron it again tomorrow.

Doctor Who, BBC2 listings

Catherine Tate as Dr. Who's companion in the next series! Didn't see that one coming! Pleased though as I'm a fan of both equally :) Saw Catherine Tate interviewing David Tennant for Radio earlier this year and they had a great rapport together :)

And yay for BBC2 listings! Heroes will be screening on BBC2 this summer - I want to see what all the fuss is about, and I'll get to see it with subititles :D

http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/heroes/

And Hyperdrive with Nick Frost and Kevin Eldon starts a second series on Thursday July 12th (according to Radio Times): http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/hyperdrive/
Not seen the first series, but sci-fi comedy sounds good. Now if only they'd repeat Red Dwarf (I know, I know the BBC are always repeating things ;)

Hot Fuzz, Catherine Tate, Birthday's

First, curses to the popularity of Hot Fuzz. Am currently unable to get tickets for myself, [info]fearcat, [info]redderz and [info]missy_manic for the Film 4 screening :( I'll keep checking the site in case more tickets get released. If we can't get them we'll just have our own private screening at my flat. :)

At least [info]missy_manic got tickets to watch The Catherine Tate Show filming next month at BBC TV Centre for a Xmas special. It will be the third time I've watched a filming of the show. Is that stalker-ish? Oh well, its a lot of fun to watch :)

Also, before I forget, happy birthday to [info]wrighty555 :) Hope the meal is good!

It's my mum's birthday tomorrow so I have got the day off work \O/ and will be going on a canal trip together with my dad round London. Am hoping the rain holds of for long enough to do so. :-/

Week just gone + weekend

My week at work was fairly uneventful except for the fact that on Thursday for reasons unknown TAKE THAT WERE IN THE BUILDING! They must've visited to use the screening room that is often hired. I would never have seen them had it not been for my workmate Andrea (thanks Andrea!) who was in the right place at the right time and told me to get to the lower ground because Take That were there, having just bumped into Jason Orange on his way to the toilet! Cue me and other women on our floor pegging it down to the lifts to have a look and lo and behold there was Gary, Mark, Jason and Howard just hanging around, no security, I had to walk past them once the lift doors opened. The problem was by this point my brain was screaming and I couldn't think what the hell to say so I just oh so casually walked past. Two minutes later they'd gone into the screening room to do whatever it was they were there for. A very surreal but memorable moment! I'm so lucky to have got tickets to their tour in November. Can't wait!

[info]missy_manic has uploaded the photos she took at the BBC Radio recording with David Tennant and Catherine Tate. You can view them under the cut below.

Chain Reaction 26 March 2007 )

This weekend myself and [info]missy_manic finaly finished our [Simon] Pegg Pavement Tour of Spaced/Shaun of the Dead filming locations. As soon as we have recovered we will post pics and a report. But first we must watch the start of the new Dr.Who series which we missed yesterday having got stuck for ages waiting for a bus at Highgate to get back home in time to watch it on Saturday.

Pegg Pavement, Tate & Tennant

So this weekend just gone my best mate [info]missy_manic (HAG!) and I made full use of our Oyster travelcards and went all around London visiting various Spaced and Shaun of The Dead filming locations (or as I put it we walked on "Pegg Pavement" :D. It was cold but at least it didn't rain. We will write up a report complete with photos soon for anyone who might be remotely interested (if such people exist) but mainly because it'll remind us of the fun we had!

And then today Michelle, Rachel, and myself had tickets to see a BBC Radio 4 programme being recorded - Catherine Tate interviewing David Tennant. Soo much fun! Am starting to feel like a bit of a David Tennant and Catherine Tate stalker as every BBC recording I have ever been to has had either one of them or both! Previously watched a filming of The Catherine Tate show, then I went to a Doctor Who Special of The Weakest Link with contestants including David Tennant, John Barrowman and other Dr.Who cast members (which actually airs this Friday - I hope I don't see myself in the audience), and last month saw a Comic Relief special of Catherine Tate show - and who was the guest star yep David Tennant! It was the school teacher sketch I saw being filmed:
