It was back to the grind of work today. Was nice to have the extra day off yesterday even though I did little with it. Except I did get to go to the press night for:

Rach got me a ticket (thanks Rach!) and we both went. It was a last minute thing but glad I went. What was far more exciting than it probably should have been was the fact that the performance ended up being the first I've ever been to with a technical hitch. About two thirds of the way through there was a power cut! Luckily the house lights still worked and so the cast finished the play with the house lights on and limited lighting on stage. Luckily it didn't impact the play too much - I feel more sorry for those in the theatre next door watching Les Miserables which was also effect by the power outage.
It being press night there were a few stars around. I spotted Andrew Lloyd Webber, Trevor Eve, Richard Griffths, and Alistair McGowan.
Anyway, there are five reasons if not more to see this play:
1) It's written by Yasmina Reza. Probably best known for Art - at least thats' what I know her for. I saw it three times on stage and bought the published play.
2) It's got Tamsin Greig, of Black Books, Shaun of the Dead, Green Wing, Love Soup etc in it.
3) It's got Ken Stott of Takin' Over The Asylum and loads of other stuff in it.
4) If that's still not got you interest, how about Ralph Fiennes? Yep, he is in the play and I don't need to tell you what else he's been in do I ?!
5) Janet McTeer - I am not familiar with her theatre work but she's very good in the play.
Playwright Yasmina Reza has the brilliant skill of writing dialogue that is both dramatic, serious and funny - which is a bit of an oxymoron but go watch a play of hers and I think you'll know what I mean. And without giving too much away, there is a serious gross-out moment you'd not associate with theatre that is worth the ticket price alone!
I may well go see this again if I can. :)
