Tony Awards

  • Jun. 8th, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Jessica Hynes
Booo! that Jessica Hynes and Stephen Mangan did not win the Tony's that they were nominated for :( but yay! for The Norman Conquests winning Best Play Revival. :)

Billy Elliot swept the boards - it really isn't the best musical I've seen IMO but meh each to their own. My opinion is probably an unpopular one (I prefer the movie).

TV, Pumping House

  • Apr. 26th, 2009 at 10:33 PM
Simon Pegg 1
Beautiful weather this weekend. Kinda wasted it on Saturday but today took a trip to south east London to visit Crossness Pumping Station at the suggestion of [info]missy_manic It has beautiful iron work, and is being carefully restored. I will post pictures so you can see what I mean another time.

TV - yay! Spandau on Jonathan Ross didn't let me down, good performance. Looking forward to the tour now :) Love the 'true'/false quiz Ross did. Pegg's interview was a bit short :( But I LOL'd when he beamed down with Lady Ga Ga's tea cup (only makes sense if you saw the previous week's show). It sounds like Scotty Pegg has a scene with Spock Nimoy - now that *is* exciting, and I hadn't seen the clip of Star Trek they showed (being trying to avoid overkill on trailers/clips) :D

Non UK Pegg fans hope this works for you if you haven't found it online already:

And the BAFTA TV Awards tonight - YAY! for I.T. Crowd winning - so much for Graeham Lineham twittering that he wouldn't win! But boo for Peter Serafinowicz, and Doctor Who missing out :( (side note - David Tennant's sparkly Darth Vader t shirt worn tonight was really rather awesome) French & Saunders - I hope you never retire from parodies - they are the best.

Edgar Wright
February 24th 2009 )

^ I didn't win the Oscars sweepstake :( But guessed best Director, Best Editing, Best Actress correctly amongst others. Go Brits! We did well this year :D And those of you who read Edgar or Simon's blogs will know that the editor who one the Oscar for Editing Slumdog Millionaire, also edited Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and more recently Free Agents. As I said, yay for British talent! :)
Take That
February 18th 2009 )

^ Rubbish photo, I apologise. Sat watching the Brit Awards and realised I'd not take a photo today.

Coldplay - great performance but eeee! Take That's outfit and stage design @ Brits - hope they do that on tour. :) Loved the Kraftwerk-ish look, especially the geeky Clark Kent-ish glasses :D

But pooey for neither Coldplay or Take That winning Best British Group :( Hope Coldplay win best song for Viva La Vida...

Oh and Simon and Nick presenting appearances = bonus! :)

ETA: Here's a better video of crap screenshot above:

Superman II

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Bafta honour for Pinewood studios

^ Awesome :) Home of the Fortress of Solitude sound stage amongst many other sets for the Reeve Superman movies. Amongst many many many other movies of course.

Up all night

Take That
Much better video (and song) from Take That than the last one Greatest Day that looked too much like an unimaginative Westlife video (sorry Westlife fans) for my liking. I think Up All Night will a great song live on tour :)

Also, Take That are up for a Brit Award again this year but they are up against Coldplay which makes me completely torn. :-/ As long as one of 'em wins it!

Yellow, Superman Returns
Been feeling pretty lethargic this weekend but I did go with Rach and [info]missy_manic to Ashes to Ashes club event as posted in [info]a2ashes community. It was fun but I gotta admit after around 11:30pm I didn't recognise much of the music. What I did recognise was great though especially Human League, Duran Duran and of course Spandau Ballet of which I listened to too much of at uni! They played 'Musclebound' when they should have played:

I just loved the singing down a tunnel sound of Tony Hadley on this song :P Anyone else on f-list a Spandau Ballet fan. No? Oh well.

Also, ItsJustSomeRandomGuy is back and season 2 of his genius "Happy Hour" has started on you tube \O/

Just finished watching BAFTA TV Awards, its pants that Life on Mars didn't win :( Oh well at least I could enjoy watching a bearded John Simm and Simon Pegg present awards.

Yellow, Superman Returns
Just got back from Vodafone Live Music Awards. Once again I have [info]missy_manic to thank for this one - she won a competition to get tickets \O/ . Got right in front of the barrier of one of the two stages and apparently on the TV broadcast right now is some audience shots that include the front row *hides* I daren't watch in case I see myself! :P Highlights were Manic Street Preachers (if I don't say that I may be killed in my sleep by [info]missy_manic :P No, but seriously they were good and I *finallly* have seem them live!), Kate Nash, and Stereophonics. Fav guest presenters included "Guy" and "Mac" from Green Wing - actors names escape me at the mo, and Jimmy Carr. :)

Pics tomorrow if any of them have come out decent at all. Need to sleep now, mega busy at work way too much to catch up on.
