Last Sunday I went to visit The Movieum of London on the Southbank devoted to the history of British cinema. The focus was mainly on the history of Pinewood and Shepperton studios and the movies that have filmed there over the years which include Star Wars and the Reeve Superman movies. I took some photos of the Superman related displays - including a Reeve costume - definitely the highlight for me. You can view my photos here.
To be honest it wasn't the best movie museum I've been to. Nowhere near as good as the old Museum of Moving Images (MOMI) that is now the BFI @ Southbank. There was a lack of signage/explanation of some of the artifacts on display which is a shame because there was a lot of great stuff. Whovians - There was a glowing Tardis and a Dalek - that made me smile, but it was worth the entry fee to view the iconic Reeve costume alone. It's only the second time I've been able to see one. The first one I saw was at the Smithsonian in Washington DC about 6 years ago.
I didn't see any Richard Curtis related stuff which I thought strange, you'd think they'd have at least a mention of the likes of Four Weddings & A Funeral? And,despite having a horror section nothing on Shaun of the Dead. I'd love to think that one day Shaun's cricket bat will be part of an exhibit to British film. No Hot Fuzz either and before you say that's too recent a film - they had Harry Potter stuff. To quote Danny Butterman, shame!
